What is the 485 Temporary Graduate Visa?
The Subclass 485 visa is designed for international students who have graduated from an Australian institution. It allows you to remain in Australia and work full-time for up to 2–8 years, depending on your qualification and visa stream.
There are two main streams under this visa:
- Graduate Work Stream: For graduates with skills related to occupations on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Valid for up to 18 months (extended to 24 months for eligible applicants).
- Post-Study Work Stream: For international students who completed a higher education degree (bachelor’s or above). Duration ranges from 2 to 6 years depending on your level of qualification.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the 485 Visa, you must:
Be under 50 years of age
Hold an eligible student visa within the last 6 months
Have completed a CRICOS-registered course
Provide evidence of English language proficiency
Hold adequate health insurance (OVHC)
Meet health and character requirements
