What Is the Subclass 482 TSS Visa?

The Subclass 482 Visa is a temporary, employer-sponsored visa that allows skilled workers to live and work in Australia for up to 2 or 4 years, depending on the occupation stream.

This visa has three main streams:

  1. Short-Term Stream – Occupations on the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
    Duration: Up to 2 years (renewable once)

  2. Medium-Term Stream – Occupations on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
    Duration: Up to 4 years, with pathway to permanent residency

  3. Labour Agreement Stream – For employers with a negotiated labour agreement with the Australian Government

Eligibility Criteria

For Employees (Visa Applicants):

  • Must be nominated by an approved Australian employer

  • Must have relevant skills, qualifications, and work experience

  • Meet English language requirements

  • Hold a positive skills assessment (if required)

  • Meet health and character requirements

For Employers:

  • Must be an approved Standard Business Sponsor

  • Must demonstrate a genuine need to fill the position

  • Must pay the market salary rate

  • Labour Market Testing (LMT) may be required
